Water Adjustment & Safety for Toddlers

Ages 2–4

15-Minute Sessions – $45

Toddlers are naturally curious and quick to explore — which can sometimes lead to dangerous situations around water. Despite how drowning is often portrayed in movies, it usually happens silently. Research shows that formal swim instruction can reduce the risk of drowning by up to 88% for children under four, making toddler swim lessons a critical part of family water safety.

Children under four are at the highest risk for accidental drowning, most often at home — in bathtubs, backyard pools, and hot tubs. Over 72% of pool drownings occur at home. Early swim education is one of the most effective ways to protect your child.

Building Confidence in the Water

Swim Tech Gainesville provides toddler swim lessons in Gainesville, FL, designed to help parents safely and confidently introduce their children to the water. Toddlers (typically ages 1–3) learn through exploration, and swimming supports their motor skills, strength, coordination, and confidence.

Our lessons are fun, engaging, and safety-focused, taught primarily in a 1:1 private lesson format by experienced instructors trained to work with young children. We introduce toddlers to the water gradually, helping them feel comfortable, confident, and safe while learning essential swim skills.

When Is the Right Time to Start?

It’s never too early to begin. Swim Tech Gainesville offers parent-and-child classes for babies as young as six months old, helping infants become comfortable in the water while learning foundational safety skills.

As toddlers grow, they learn to:

  • Enter and exit the pool safely

  • Float on their back

  • Swim to the side of the pool

  • Submerge their face and hold their breath

These skills significantly reduce the risk of accidental drowning.

Independent Toddler Lessons

If your toddler is ready for lessons without a parent in the water, Swim Tech provides a supportive, low-distraction environment where instructors blend safety skills with age-appropriate swim instruction. Since young children learn best through play, lessons include creative games and toys to make learning both fun and effective.

Our instructors tailor each lesson to your child’s individual needs, focusing on building trust, confidence, and a positive relationship with the water.

What’s Important When Choosing a Class?

Swim Tech Gainesville instructors are certified, experienced, and trained to work with toddlers who may feel nervous or hesitant. Parents can expect a supportive, nurturing, and engaging environment filled with songs, games, and interactive activities.

Parents are welcome to participate when appropriate — helping build their child’s confidence and strengthening the parent-child bond.

Note: Babies and not-yet-trained toddlers are required to wear a swim diaper.
