Coach Joey Pedraza is a professional swim and performance coach based in Gainesville, Florida. A lifelong athlete originally from Cuba, Joey began swimming at a young age, later earning a spot on the USA Swimming National Team and competing at elite collegiate levels at the University of Florida in both pool and open-water events.
Today, Joey blends swim-specific technique, strength and mobility training, and mindset development to coach swimmers and triathletes of all ages — from beginners to national-level competitors. His programs are individualized, supportive, and science-driven, helping athletes achieve technical mastery and personal transformation.
Joey teaches swimmers to move with purpose, not panic — to feel the water instead of fighting it. His sessions combine technical precision with functional strength, mobility, and mental discipline, guided by the belief that improvement happens when science meets intuition.
Joey founded Pedraza Performance to help athletes discover their full potential through personalized, goal-oriented programming that blends performance science, motivation, and accountability.
Joey expanded the 10 & Under developmental program, launched a Masters Swim Program, trained staff, and developed athlete progress systems while building a disciplined, enthusiastic team culture.
Joey cultivated a unified team environment, designed performance-specific practices, and guided athletes through championship preparation with a focus on technical excellence and mental strength.
Joey worked with age-group and elite swimmers to refine technique, develop race strategies, and build professional training habits through biomechanics-driven coaching.
