Joey Pedraza is a professional swim and performance coach based in Gainesville, Florida a lifelong athlete whose passion for the water has evolved into helping others achieve technical mastery and personal transformation.
Originally from Cuba, Joey began swimming at a young age before moving to the U.S. and earning a spot on the USA Swimming National Team. As a collegiate athlete at the University of Florida, he trained and competed at elite levels in both pool and open-water events.
Today, Joey brings that same high-performance mindset to his coaching. Blending swim-specific technique, strength & mobility, and mindset training, he develops swimmers and triathletes of all ages from beginners to national-level competitors with programs that are individualized, supportive, and science driven.
Joey teaches swimmers to move with purpose, not panic — to feel the water instead of fighting it. His sessions combine technical mastery with functional strength, mobility, and mental discipline. He believes improvement happens when science meets intuition, where every drill connects to how the body naturally moves through water.
Joey built Pedraza Performance to help athletes discover their potential through personalized programming. He created goal-oriented plans that blend performance science, motivation, and accountability. Every client, from youth swimmers to adult triathletes, receives individualized training that promotes consistency, confidence, and longevity.
While serving as Assistant Aquatics Director at Gulliver, Joey expanded the 10 & Under developmental program and launched a Masters Swim Program that quickly became one of the facility’s most active communities. He led staff training, developed athlete progress systems, and built a culture centered on discipline and enthusiasm for the sport.
As Head Coach, Joey cultivated a unified team atmosphere built on leadership, integrity, and technical precision. He designed performance-specific practices, guided athletes through championship preparation, and introduced strategies to strengthen both stamina and mindset.
During his time at RallySport, Joey worked hands-on with age-group and elite swimmers, developing tailored race plans, refining technique, and instilling professional-grade habits. His analytical eye and focus on biomechanics elevated team results and athlete confidence.
