A 2009 study found that children who participate in formal swim lessons have a significantly lower risk of accidental drowning. Swimming is a life-saving skill that lasts a lifetime — especially important in Florida, where we have over 30,000 lakes, 1,350 miles of coastline, and more than 1.4 million backyard pools.

While safety is our top priority, swim lessons are also fun! Kids build confidence, enjoy the water, and develop a skill they can use for the rest of their lives.
Swim lessons can support your child’s overall development. Studies show that children who learn to swim early often demonstrate stronger learning skills, which can positively impact academic performance. As their abilities grow, swimmers also gain real-world understanding of physics, math, and biomechanics.
Swimming is one of the few sports suitable for all ages and skill levels. Starting early helps children build strong foundations and opens the door to many water-related activities and sports, including:
Competitive swimming
Water polo
Artistic (synchronized) swimming
Triathlons
Diving
Surfing, snorkeling, and scuba diving
Swimming skills can also lead to future career opportunities such as lifeguarding, coaching, or becoming a swim instructor.
